Nattokinase for Heart Health

The enzyme Nattokinase has been in use for hundreds of years, but only recently has its benefits been identified. For century’s people from all over the world have been gathering plants and herbs and using them to both heal and ward off illness.  The benefits and uses for individual plants were usually handed down from elderly shamans and healers to those taking their place. In Japan, the soybeans have been used to create Natto, and have been gathered to help people with heart and blood pressure related conditions.
Nattokinase (pronounced nat-oh-KY-nase) is an enzyeme that is extracted from the Japanese food called Natto. An enzyme such as Nattokinase works in the human body by interacting with cells in such a way that they do not harm themselves.  To help you understand, it would be similar to you helping take care of someone with a broken leg, without you developing a broken leg.  The care you would deliver would help them heal, but you would stay healthy.  Nattokinase works in a similar way to help keep blood from clotting, which could cause a stroke or heart attack.  Until recently, the only way to obtain Nattokinase in your diet was to add Bacillus natto, a beneficial bacterium, to boiled soybeans and allow it to ferment until the nattokinase enzyme could be pulled out (extracted).
Benefits of Nattokinase
The effects on our bodies of Nattokinase are being studied in chemical labs all over the world. What scientists do know is that the enzyme Nattokinase helps promote heart and cardiovascular health by helping the blood from clotting.  When blood clots, it can cause a heart attack or stroke. Nattokinase also helps prevent the long- term hardening of the arteries by stopping the sticking of the blood cells together, which then stay on the artery walls.  Studies have also shown that taking Nattokinase may help some people have lower blood pressure.
Before anyone takes any supplement, it is best to discuss it with your doctor.  Nattokinase has been safely used for hundreds of years; however, it may interfere with certain medications, and your doctor would want to know you are taking it in case you have symptoms of an allergic reaction.  Another consideration if you are considering taking Nattokinase is to be sure you are purchasing it from a reputable company. A cheaper price does not mean that the Nattokinase you purchase is safely made.  Some companies add cheap fillers, and use poor quality plants in the production of Nattokinase.  You only have one body, so be sure you are placing only the highest quality of Nattokinase into it.
Conclusion
With advances in science and research, the enzyme Nattokinase, which has been a trusted supplement for hundreds of years in Japan, is now not only being studied throughout the world, but is now available in supplement form in many countries. If you are maintaining a healthy heart and preventing a stroke, then you may want to consider adding Nattokinase to your diet.
